Arkansas
& Missouri's No. 48, an Alco Century 420 was built in 1965 as
Seaboard Airlines's Number 126. It later became Seaboard Coast Line's
Number 1227 and then Louisville & Nashville's Number 1366 before
coming to the A&M. Shown in Fort Smith, Arkansas on February 19,
1988.
Locomotive Numbers 20 & 22
The
Arkansas & Missouri Railroad provides "A Trip of Yesteryear" by
operating mixed trains in the beautiful Ozark Mountains. On October 20,
1991, A&M's Alco RS-1 units 20 and 22 are viewed at Winslow,
Arkansas with passenger equipment.
Locomotive Numbers 44, 42 & 46
October 24, 1987 finds the Fort Smith turn of the A&M exiting the Winslow Tunnel which was built in 1882 and enlarged between 1967 and 1969. Power this day is C-420 No. 44, built in 1965 for the Seaboard Airline; RS-32 No. 42, built in 1961 for the New York Central; and C-420 No. 46, built in 1965 for the Seaboard Airline.
